Disney Tops $7 Billion at 2018 Global Box Office
The mouse reigns supreme.
Once again Disney has topped $7 billion at the global box office, marking only the second time in history that any studio has surpassed that landmark. Disney previously set the record in 2016 with a $7.6 billion haul.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was the top grosser with $2 billion in proceeds, followed by ‘Black Panther’ ($1.35 billion) and ‘Incredibles 2 ($1.24 billion), representing three of the top four grossing films of the year. Universal’s ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ came in third with $1.3 billion.
Disney’s domestic gross is $2.95 billion, approaching the $3 billion mark set by the company in 2016. Given that the holiday movie season is still heating up and Disney is set to open ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ next week, Disney is expected to once again set a new record.
