John Krasinski Set to Direct 'A Quiet Place 2'
After John Krasinski’s success with ‘A Quiet Place,’ he agreed to write the sequel. Now he’s been confirmed to direct as well.
Production is slated to begin in July. Emily Blunt’s deal for the sequel is secure as well. Blunt recently won a SAG Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the original. Krasinski also announced the sequel’s release date via Instagram: May 15, 2020.
The original production of ‘A Quiet Place’ cost $17 million and premiered at SXSW a year ago. It quickly garnered wild acclaim. The movie was expected to open around $30 million but outperformed its domestic tracking with a $50.2 million haul, raking in a final box office tally of $188 million domestic and $340 million worldwide.
Following the success of ‘A Quiet Place,’ producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form launched a new production label at Paramount, Fully Formed Entertainment. Deadline exclusively reported the news back in October.
