2019 Oscars Ratings Reverse 5 Year Decline
The ratings for the 2019 Academy Awards broadcast reversed a five year decline, ticking up slightly from last year.
The telecast drew a 7.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 29.6 million viewers on Sunday. That figure is up from a 6.8 rating and 26.5 million viewers in 2018, representing a 12% increase in total viewers and a 13% increase in the key demo.
The good news is that the Oscars stymied a five year trend of falling ratings. The bad news is that 2019 still represents the second smallest audience ever for an Academy Awards telecast.
