Werner Herzog to Receive Lifetime Honor From European Film Academy
Legendary German director Werner Herzog will be honored with a lifetime achievement award by the European Film Academy. Herzog has directed such acclaimed hits as ‘Fitzcarraldo,’ ‘Aguirre, the Wrath of God,’ and ‘The Cave of Forgotten Dreams.’ He will receive the lifetime honor at the 32nd annual European Film Awards on December 7th in Berlin.
Herzog has written, produced and directed more than 70 feature and documentary films over the course of his career and has collected numerous awards, including a Berlinale Silver Bear for his 1968 debut ‘Signs of Life’ and a best director honor in Cannes for ‘Fitzcarraldo.‘ He also received an Oscar nomination for the 2007 documentary ‘Encounters at the End of the World.’
His latest documentary, the Tokyo-set ‘Family Romance, LLC,’ will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. The trailer is included below.
