Robert Pattinson Likely to Become the Next Batman
According to an exclusive report by Variety, Robert Pattinson is in advanced negotiations to play “The Batman” in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero film, which is slated to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
While their sources claim it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and the papers are expected to be signed imminently. Warner Bros. had no comment.
Pre-production on the Warner Bros./DC Comics flick is expected to start this summer.
Reeves took over the Batman directing chair after Ben Affleck’s exit in January 2017 and has been developing the project ever since. He will produce ‘The Batman’ with his ‘Planet of the Apes’ collaborator Dylan Clark.
Warner Bros. has been giving Reeves ample time to develop the project, hoping the latest iteration of the DC franchise is done right following Affleck’s disappointing turns in ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Justice League.’
Meanwhile, Pattinson is set to shoot another film for Warner Bros.: Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic co-starring John David Washington, which is set to open July 17, 2020.
