Sharon Tate Photographed by Jack Garofalo in Cannes, May 1968
Sharon Tate will once again be at the forefront of many conversations this year with the forthcoming release of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ less than two weeks away, in which she’s portrayed by Margot Robbie.
In relation to this gorgeously captured historical photograph, Tate was staying at the Martinez hotel in Cannes with her husband Roman Polanski, who was on the fest’s jury that year in addition to showing a special screening of his new film ‘Rosemary’s Baby’.
Polanski had met Tate on the set of his previous film, ‘The Fearless Vampire Killers’, and wed in January of 1968. "An exploration of how evil enters the world", according to Polanski, ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ would receive four Golden Globe nominations, winning one—Ruth Gordon for Best Supporting Actress.
Just 15 months after this photo was taken, Sharon Tate would be dead, murdered by the fanatics from Charles Manson's apocalyptic cult.
