The Current State of Animation
Animated films have seen a resurgence in recent years—and not just computer generated big budget remakes (ahem looking at you, Disney). It only seems like the House of Mouse is dominating the genre because of the cacophony of noise their releases seem to generate, always for better or worse.
Still, there are a surprising number of animation studios producing a surprising variety of titles, from traditional to anime to stop-motion, with each having their own very enthusiastic and very dedicated fan set.
But how has the animation genre evolved in recent years, and where is it going? As this video from our friend at The Royal Ocean Film Society explains, the landscape for animated pictures is a complicated one that forever feels endangered, so like nearly everything else in the film business, its future is far from certain.
