Disney Plans on Remaking 'Home Alone,' Ruining a Generation's Childhood
Disney maintains a de-facto monopoly in the movie business these days and as much as we’d like to rail against the House of Mouse, we really only have audiences to blame. That’s because audiences keep voting with their wallets, enabling Disney to continue churning out remakes such as ‘The Lion King,’ which recently surpassed ONE BILLION DOLLARS at the worldwide box office.
Now Disney has gone one step further by announcing that they were going to ruin … er, remake ‘Home Alone,’ an absolute classic of our childhood. ‘Night At The Museum’ and ‘Diary Of A Wimpy Kid’ are also getting moused up in the process.
During a Q3 earnings call Disney big boss Bob Iger said these titles would be getting a “re-imagining” for streaming service Disney+, which is due to launch this November, though it's not certain whether this will be as a TV series or a film.
Additionally, it was announced that Disney will offer a bundle that includes Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu for $12.99 per month, further exacerbating the trend of digital streaming services slowly but surely turning into what we all hate about cable television.
