Candid Photo of Tim Curry In the Makeup Chair On the Set of ‘It,' 1990
We’re in the midst of ‘IT’-mania so there’s no better time to feature a photo showing where IT all (cinematically) began.
At the time, most adaptations of Stephen King’s novels were presented as TV miniseries. They were alright, but not the powerhouse film depictions his works later commanded in Hollywood. The real bright spot for the original ‘It’ was Tim Curry’s villainous performance, though the actor himself wasn’t particularly fond of the ending. In an interview with Screen Geek, Tim Curry had this to say:
"I hope they make the ending better because on [the TV version], I turned into some kind of giant spider and it was not very scary."
We agree and thankfully the modern versions stepped up the freak factor to eleven. As a result, we can only assume that both Tim Curry and Stephen King are quite pleased.
