Teaser Trailer for ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ Garners Horrifying Reactions

Childhood nostalgia or nightmares?

The loveable animated Clifford is coming to life this upcoming 2021 with a feature film adaptation to hit theaters in the fall. Paramount Pictures released the first look at their upcoming film “Clifford The Big Red Dog,” adapted from the popular children’s book series with the same name this Wednesday, and the big red CGI dog has been garnering some attention on the internet.

Some are cracking jokes about the CGI dog, comparing it to CGI horrors like Will Smith’s blue-skinned genie from “Aladdin” and Taylor Swift’s unnerving feline in “Cats.” Meanwhile, others are just straight out horrified, mostly poking fun at Clifford’s oddly colored fur.

Take a look at the short promotional clip and see for yourself:

The official synopsis for the film reads: When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!

“Clifford the Big Red Dog” hits theaters on November 5, 2021.
