THIS IS THE MOVIE WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
Bleecker Street and Topic Studios have finally released the trailer for their upcoming film “Dream Horse.” It stars Toni Collette as a grocery store clerk who convinces her town to invest in a racehorse. Damian Lewis co-stars and the supporting cast includes Owen Teale, Joanna Page, Karl Johnson, and Steffan Rhodri.
Directed by Euros Lyn and scripted by Neil McKay, “Dream Horse” is the feel-good movie of the year. As previously mentioned, the story revolves around a small town investing in a potential racehorse. Why? Who cares! Toni Collette is wearing sweaters and delivering an ambiguous European accent – what more could you want?
But in all seriousness, I genuinely think “Dream Horse” is the escapism needed in such a tumultuous time. The film is absent of all pandemics, social outcries, riots, unjust law enforcement, etc. – it’s simply about a horse. And Damian Lewis’ blue eyes. Lewis, I might add, is a criminally underrated actor. His work in HBO’s “Billions” is fantastic and people forget his breathtaking performance as Major Richard Winters in Steven Spielberg’s “Band of Brothers.”
Before I leave you with this astounding trailer, I feel it’s pertinent to rank the best the top 5 horse movies of all time. While limited in quantity, the quality of pony pictures is surprisingly great. I’m sorry to say it “Dream Horse,” but you’ve got some competition:
- “The Rider”
- “War Horse”
- “Racing Stripes” (Technically features a zebra, but I’ll count it)
