“Without Remorse” is an upcoming thriller directed by Stefano Sollima (“Sicario: Day of the Soldado”) and starring Michael B. Jordan. It’s based off a Tom Clancy novel of the same name. The film is being released on April 30 for streaming on Amazon Prime.
“John Wick” is, evidently, the most influential film of the 21st century. Every action movie released in the post-Wick era follows a former soldier, assassin, spy, etc., whose returns to his violent profession after his wife and/or child is murdered. He seeks revenge and darn it, he’s going to get it by any means necessary.
“Without Remorse” seems more or less a reiteration of this concept. Michael B. Jordan is ex-military and has a happy home life. But after his girlfriend is killed during a break-in, he vows revenge on the intruders that will of course be, without remorse (he actually says this in the trailer.) He picks off enemies one by one, quickly thwarting the chain of command until our hero can, probably quite literally, cut off the head of the snake. The head most likely being a corrupt government official we initially all thought was a good guy.
Side note: it’s amazing I can gather off of that information from a 2 minute and 20 second long trailer. It’s quite infuriating, because there leaves little room for mystery when or if I choose to sit down and watch this movie (very unlikely). Trailers weren’t always this transparent. I re-watched the “Taxi Driver” trailer a few days ago and it’s horrible! There’s a cheesy voiceover, tacky music, poor editing – but it gives nothing away!
Regardless, here’s the trailer for “Without Remorse” coming to Amazon Prime on April 30.
