Ridley Scott’s upcoming film “House of Gucci” features one of the best ensembles in recent history: top billed by Adam Driver and Lady Gaga, the film also features Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Jack Huston. Production started last month in Italy and the film is scheduled for a November release. Check out the behind scenes photo of Adam Driver and Lady Gaga as Maruizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani.

The crime thriller is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Foden. Foden’s expose details the events and aftermath of the murder of Mauricio Gucci by his wife Patrizia Reggiani, and the film will center specifically on Reggiani’s plotting. Driver will play the Gucci patriarch and Gaga will play Reggiani.

“House of Gucci” is the second Ridley Scott movie scheduled for a release in 2021; “The Last Duel” wrapped in January. Adam Driver stars in both Scott movies and continues to be every director’s favorite actor. Lady Gaga has avoided the limelight as of late, but I’m sure her performance in “House of Gucci” will invoke a cultural phenomenon similar to that of “A Star is Born.” I mean come on, look at that hair.

I’m curious to see how Scott approaches the story from a tonal perspective. Based on the outfits, “House of Gucci” has the potential to be a “Gone Girl,” melancholic mystery. However, the plot feels like Coen Brothers movie; a crime committed by ordinary people with a hint of irreverence. Either way, I’m buying a ticket.
