Well before Metaflix dot com was a glint in my eye, it was a YouTube channel. First I was a fan of all the commonly known video essayists. Every Frame a Painting. Lindsay Ellis. Nerdwriter. Then I thought, “Why not me?”
The thought of going from knowing nothing about making videos to putting out a finished product on YouTube is daunting. One has to write a script, learn how to record the narration, edit the narration, learn how to use video editing software, create visuals, edit the video, overlay the narration and soundtrack, export the video, upload the video to YouTube and complete a whole bunch of other steps on the platform before finally hitting the “Publish” button.
But every single one of those tasks is a simple Google search away from being understood. Then all is takes is a little bit of practice to become proficient. Did the early Metaflix videos stink? You betcha. But after a while, they become passable, then pretty good.
Embedded below are two that I’m particularly proud of. Check ’em out and if you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe. There’s plenty more on the way.
