Brad Bird is the visionary director behind the “Incredibles” films. He also holds the tile of being first outside director of a Pixar film. Bird then followed up “The Incredibles” with “Ratatouille” in 2007. Oh and before that, he directed “The Iron Giant.” Basically, this man specializes in making hits.
Both “The Incredibles” and “Ratatouille” took home Oscars for Best Animated Film. However, Bird isn’t a one trick pony. In 2011, he revived the Mission Impossible franchise. Bird’s “Ghost Protocol” was the highest grossing film in the series upon its release. Additionally, the film features the iconic sequence of Tom Cruise climbing the world’s tallest building (Burj Khalifa in Dubai). This stunt marked a turning point in the franchise.
What makes Bird such a great director, whether it’s live action or animated, is he knows exactly how to communicate his vision. However in animated films, such as “Incredibles 2,” so much more emphasis is placed on the vocal performance. In the video above, Bird elegantly collaborates with the cast to deliver the best lines from the film.
