You know who we’ll always be talking about? M. Night Shyamalan. Whether his films are good in an odd way, bad in a good way, or just plain odd and bad, they certainly leave an impression. Directors rarely garner such a strangely polarizing and yet appreciative following such as M. Night Shyamalan.
So, the news of his next big directorial outing is here. We have only the barest of information as it wouldn’t be M. Night Shyamalan if we didn’t. Shyamalan’s next film will be called “Knock at the Cabin.” The director teased the film way back in August, posting a picture on his Twitter feed showing off an unlabeled binder holding his next script. “The next one. On third draft. Super tight. Under a 100 pages,” the “Split” director wrote.
“Knock at the Cabin” will be out in wide release on Friday, February 3, 2023, which is a two-week bump up from its previous date. Either Universal Pictures bumped up the release date as a sign of encouragement for his next film, or they’re just like us and can’t wait to see what weird trainwreck/masterpiece this man comes out with next.
There is no in-between with M. Night Shyamalan and so every one of his films is like Russian roulette. You could get lucky and get “the Sixth Sense” or “Signs” or you could lose and get “Lady In The Water.” In this metaphor, I would say “The Happening” is like the bullet jamming as the movie was meant to be a horror film, but if you watch it like a comedy, then you’ll have a pretty good time. Either way, I look forward to seeing what twists M. Night has in store for us.
