Reports say Tom Holland is looking to move on from his role as Spider-Man. “No Way Home” is being billed as the finale to the MCU’s trilogy of films based around everyone’s favorite web-slinger, so his exit from the role would seem to be a real possibility. Well, with pre-ticket sales through the roof for the MCU’s third and “final” chapter, it’s no surprise that we are now learning it is in fact not the final one.
Series producer Amy Pascal said in a recent interview, “This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
Well sorry, Tom, you’re still going to be Spider-Man for a while longer (poor guy). It’s unknown if this will include any Avengers films or other crossover titles that Spider-Man may appear in as well. For now, all we know is we’ll be getting three more Sony/Marvel produced films.
If I were a betting man, the titles are probably going to have home in them. Or, they’re going to find some other weird naming convention for the next phase of Spidey films. They could even be Miles Morales centered movies for all we know. Tom Holland could finally play the mentor role for once, if that were the case. He could end his Spidey career by handing the mantle over to a new name and face … But only after he meets Venom.
