With “Black Widow” having already been released, it seems Marvel is at long last ready to move with their plans of introducing their Phase 4 of films. The second film slated is “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings,” which has now dropped its first trailer, marking Simu Liu’s MCU debut.
Destin Daniel Cretton is directing “Shang-Chi,” soon to be the 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from a screenplay he wrote with David Callaham and Andrew Lanham. Starring Liu as Shang-Chi alongside Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng, the film follows Shang-Chi, as he is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization.
With fighting arena set pieces, Awkwafina’s comedic performance as Shang-Chi’s best friend Katy, more hard-hitting bus brawl sequences, idyllic and picturesque backdrops, this film is poised to be yet another major Marvel blockbuster, and a simple stepping stone along the way to help set up an even grander story.
Watch the trailer above, and be sure to watch the film when it releases, exclusively in theatres, on September 3rd.
