David F. Sandberg, director of “Shazam!” and the upcoming “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” has leaked the sequels ending on Reddit.
Sandberg playfully teases fans by “leaking” a video of himself running around the Shazam office which ends in showing the last page of “Shazam 2’s” script. Sandberg makes sure to show hall signs with the official “Shazam! Fury the Gods” logo as well as a door sign indicating he’s entering his own office. He then runs up to the script that’s sitting on his desk and flips it to the last page.
If you couldn’t make it quite out in the video, the final page of the script opens in the Hall of Justice. Mary says “I am Mary” and everyone somehow all know what she means. This is a nod to Groot’s “I am Groot” from the MCU. Additionally, the last line of the film is “I guess the real Justice League was the friends we made along the way,” an obvious nod to the recent hype around “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
One of “Shazam!’s” strong points was its humor and self awareness so it’s fun to see Sandberg joke with fans like this. The “leaked” video is also reminiscent of the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” title release campaign. The Marvel film’s three main stars each posted a different joke title to their social media accounts at the same time. The next day, the official Twitter for the film released a video of the three stars leaving the directors office, upset that they still don’t know the film’s title before the camera pans to “Spider-Man: No Way Home” written on a whiteboard.
As for “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” we must wait until the film is released on June 2, 2023 before we know the true ending.
