The Making of ‘Elf’ and How It Almost Didn’t Exist

There are many times where we’ve seen a movie more than we can count but it’s not often that we learn about how the film was actually made behind the scenes. For many, this rings true for the cult classic Christmas movie “Elf.” The holiday favorite “Elf,” stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, a man who has been raised at the North Pole among Santa’s elves. At the age of 30, he discovers that he is human and embarks on a journey to New York City in search of his real father.

The plotline for this movie makes for some hilarious scenarios and scenes, and it’s no wonder how the film became a holiday favorite. But as much as kids and parents alike play the movie during the holidays, there are many events that take place behind the scenes that many viewers are unaware of.

The video above reveals the making of some key scenes in the hilarious holiday movie including the making of the Mr. Narwhal stop motion scene as well as the surprising location shoot inside a closed down mental institution. It also touches on some more serious matters such as legal rights that almost made the film cease to exist. Check it out above!
