James Gunn has been building hype for his final installment in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” saga via Twitter. Marvel added more excitement by announcing Will Poulter will star as Adam Warlock.
Adam Warlock is one of the most powerful superheroes in the comic book universe (as if we haven’t heard that one). His arrival into the MCU was teased at the end of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
In an end credit scene, a weapon is made to defeat the Guardians, the weapon is named Adam. James Gunn and Marvel thought long and hard about who could play Warlock. They had to respond strong, seeing the fans’ immeasurable excitement for his onscreen debut. The execs must’ve been blown away by his acting because Poulter “nailed the audish,” as Jack Black would say.
Will Poulter is a pretty established comedic actor. He’s best known for his roles in “We’re the Millers,” “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch,” and “Maze Runner.” Poulter could bring some levity to the character, as is the tone of the movies.
Whether the film will follow in the same story line as the comics is unknown. Though Gunn loves to drop hints, but this might give Poulter a launch pad for appearances in future projects.
Filming is set to begin soon and it sounds like Adam Warlock will offer the Guardians a worthy opponent.
