Kathryn Hahn is joining Janelle Monae as a member of the budding cast of Rian Johnson’s forthcoming Netflix film “Knives Out 2.”
The casting news for the highly anticipated sequel has been akin to the twelve days of Christmas, with a new star being announced seemingly on a daily basis. On Wednesday, news broke that Monae was joining the production. Immediately prior to that, Edward Norton joined the cast, with Dave Bautista not far behind. The gang is tagging along with Daniel Craig, who is reprising the role of southern detective Benoit Blanc.
The original “Knives Out” premiered to critical and popular acclaim. It grossed north of $311 million at the worldwide box office, nabbing an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay along the way.
As a result of the 2019 film’s runaway success, Netflix shelled out north of $400 million for the rights to the next two installments, shattering both records and expectations for streaming deals.
Plot details are presently unknown, other than Craig returning to solve another serpentine mystery among a large cast of suspects. There are no indications who Hahn, Monae, or any other characters may be playing in the film. Production is set to start this summer in Greece.
