‘Uncharted’ Looks Like The Games Brought To Life In Debut Trailer

The “Uncharted” movie trailer is finally here! After being in development hell for years, the video game movie adaptation has finally been made. As a huge fan of the video game franchise, this film looks to be more promising than I’d like to admit.

I was one of the people who thought Tom Holland was too baby faced to play rugged adventurer Nathan Drake. He still looks like Peter Parker playing Indiana Jones, but he did say “oh crap” and then fall off something really high up. That is like half of what Nathan Drake does, so spot on impression there Spidey.

For those of you unacquainted with one of the greatest video game adventure franchises of all time, let me fill you in. Uncharted is like Tomb Raider but with a guy. Now, Tomb Raider is just a video game version of Indiana Jones, but with a girl. So, Uncharted is just the video game industry going full circle and making an Indiana Jones video game without Indiana Jones.

That said, Nathan Drake has evolved into so much more than an Indy clone. He’s edgier, wittier, and less of an academic, making him ideal for self-insert adventure fantasies. I would love to go on a treasure hunt for lost Inca gold, but I’d get to one of those puzzle rooms in a temple and I would be stuck for ages. I best leave the adventuring to the professional amateurs like Nathan Drake.

The “Uncharted” film synopsis reads, “Based on one of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed video game series of all time, Uncharted introduces audiences to the young street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.”
