Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson transforms himself in new stills from the upcoming “Black Adam.” Though the actor admitted he originally hated the costume.

The DCEU movie has had its fair share of obstacles, but finally began production earlier this year. Johnson expressed his interest in the character before the film was fully developed. Fans of the comics are excited to see the often-loveable actor in the role of an anti-hero.

The magazine “Total Film” recently released exclusive BTS photos of Johnson suited up. The three photos show different variations of the characters costume, with and without his signature hood.

The Rock looks as formidable as ever, the photos giving him a cold look. The stills are retelling the moment Black Adam is freed after being trapped for thousands of years.

Despite the sleek and mysterious costumes we see in the photos, the actor admitted he hated the original costume.

With a build like Dwayne Johnson, I wouldn’t want my hard work to go to waste either. The actor felt he needed to be able to embody the costume to become the character.

When I put that costume on the second time with no padding, just cut in a way where it was enhancing the work that I had put in – I felt.. I’m Black Adam.

The DCEU appears to be on a mission to get the biggest-built guys in Hollywood to play their heroes and villains. And it’s working, as mentioned previously, it’ll be interesting to see how he takes on this notoriously devious character.

We will have to wait for a full-length trailer, but seeing as the film won’t release for a while, we’ll just have to over analyze these photos.

And of course, there’s already been some scrutiny over the costume online. But that’s what comes with adaptation territory. The DCEU seem so be on the right path, but only time will tell.

“Black Adam” has a current release date of July 29, 2022.
