If you missed it in the new trailer, Sony has given us a first look at the titular villain of the much anticipated sequel, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” While he is sparsely seen in the first trailer, a new image clearly reveals Carnage in all his glory. He can be seen with his iconically frightening, blood-red look, and a maze of fluid-like tentacles surrounding him.
Despite the critical failure of the original “Venom,” fans still clearly enjoyed it, propelling it to rake in almost a billion dollars at the box office. This fan support is what made green-lighting “Venom,” for a sequel, now under the helm of Director Andy Serkis, a no-brainer.
While many may have had issues with the original, Venom’s most famous villain and counter-part, Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson, is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The two characters are perhaps some of the most famous foes of Spider-Man. However, it is still unsure if these characters exist in the same cinematic universe as the recent Spider-Man films.
Woody Harrelson made a brief appearance as Carnage (Cletus Kasady) in the post-credits sequence of the 2018 film “Venom,” sporting memorable curly red locks. However, this is the first look at the actual monster, which is instantly recognizable to comic book fans.
While it was originally slated for a June release, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” was delayed and will now be released on September 24th, 2021. Hopefully the wait will be worthwhile for fans and critics alike.
