David O. Russell’s newest period drama has added another star to the lineup of his new film: Taylor Swift.
The 11-time Grammy winner joins a talented—and massive—ensemble featuring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Alessandro Nivola.
Ok, now breathe! It’s a long list of talent that either resembles a high-powered ensemble film or a Garry Marshall holiday movie. Interestingly, Taylor Swift made her film debut in Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day” rom-com. The plot, title, and Swift’s role is a secret at this point, but production has already wrapped.
While the singer has been keeping herself busy, releasing two albums, “Folklore” and “Evermore” back-to-back. However, this is her first big screen project since “Cats.”
Taylor Swift continued her film journey with a lead role in “The Lorax” and appearing in “The Giver” with stars Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
This project marks David O. Russell’s first feature film since 2015’s “Joy” with Jennifer Lawrence. He also worked with Lawrence directing Oscar caliber films “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.”
At this time, there is no release date set for Russell’s new film.
