The latest trailer for “The King’s Man” has dropped and its “red band” status lets it show off all the gore and potty humor any fan could hope for. The film is a prequel for the beloved “Kingsman” franchise.
“The King’s Man” stars Ralph Fiennes as a spy extraordinaire responsible for putting together the famous underground organization from the original films. Matthew Vaughn is once again directing this entry in the series.
The synopsis of the film reads, “One man must race against time to stop history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they get together to plot a war that could wipe out millions of people and destroy humanity.” This implies that “The King’s Man” may have the highest stakes of any film in the franchise.
The cast is rounded out by Harris Dickinson, Gemma Arterton, Djimon Hounsou, Rhys Ifan and Stanley Tucci. The trailer shows off these characters in a big way, and promises the signature combination of laughs and spectacle from the original films.
Another interesting thing you may notice from the trailer is that it was posted by “20th Century Studios,” as opposed to, “20th Century Fox.” This is one of the first visible indications of Fox and Disney’s merger that started a couple years ago.
“The King’s Man” is set to release exclusively in theaters on December 22nd, 2021.
