Denis Villenueve’s upcoming sci-fi epic, “Dune,” is perhaps the most anticipated film of the year. In fact, it was one of the most anticipated films of last year, before the pandemic forced Warner Bros. to delay its release several times.
A new ongoing twitter thread from Warner Bros. Pictures is giving fans their closest look yet at all of the major characters in the upcoming film. The tweet below is the start of the thread, and features Timothée Chalamet’s character, Paul. While not much new is revealed in his photo, we do get confirmation that Dune will feature the signature Chalamet-smoldering-gaze that we’ve grown to know and love.
The upcoming film is based on the first half of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel series of the same title. It was originally adapted by David Lynch in 1984, but was received with mixed reviews. This film, however, seems to have a much different approach.
The thread also features portraits of essential characters like Duke Leto, Lady Jessica, Duncan Idaho, Chani, Gurney, Stilgar and several more. These photos are a more personal compliment to the trailer for the film that was just released, which showcases the impressive scope of the project.
Interestingly enough, a spinoff series for “Dune” has already been ordered at HBO Max. It is titled “Dune: The Sisterhood” and the pilot episode will be directed by Villeneuve himself. If anything, this shows Warner Bros. has immense confidence in the success of the upcoming film.
“Dune” touts an impressive ensemble that will be anchored by Chalamet and Zendaya. It will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on October 22nd, 2021.
